You–who keeps no slaves–have allowed yourself to be made a slave to the almighty screen. Why give up your sovereignty so easily, so cheaply? What is this thing but plastic, metal, glass, and its pleasures but flashing lights and chirping sounds? A little self-control is what you need, to set aside your self-imposed master and look and listen to the world around. Why waste your life in some technology that is smaller than your hand? “But my life is there, my friends and family! I will miss out if I am not checking this status and that update!” Do you really think so? Hear what you are saying, man: Are friends and family merely the sum total of their written words, their images produced by some machine, or (worse) a thumbs-up? Here is a novel idea: talk with them, face to face, mouth to mouth.
